AN ALLOA cat has been reunited with its owner after stowing away on a removal van and being taken to Fife.

The moggy spent the night in the back of the truck, before leaping into the arms of one of the company's employees the next day.

The Flemings Removal van had been attending jobs in Stirling and Alloa on Wednesday, January 25, before driving back to its base at Inverkeithing.

However, it wasn't until the next day that the mischievous Meg was discovered.

Kerry Castle, office administrator at Flemings Removals, told the Advertiser: "It was a bit of a funny day, yesterday.

"The Facebook post went so far and wide; so many people shared it.

"At first we weren't quite sure where the cat came from. On Wednesday the van made a collection in Doune and stopped for another job in Alloa on the way back here.

"And so the next day – the Thursday – one of the crew went to unload the Doune crates from the back of the van and heard a noise. The cat then jumped into their arms.

"It would have been in there all night, but there was a lot of blankets in the back of the van there so I think it would have cosied up nicely."

Kerry said that Flemings also owns a cattery, based at Scotlandwell, and Meg was taken there while efforts were made to find its owner.

The company then put out an appeal on Facebook, reading: "This morning we found a stowaway in the back of our van and would like to reunite it with its owner.

"We think it's from the Alloa area and must have got in the van yesterday. It's now resting up in our cattery and being well looked after."

Kerry added: "Fortunately, the cat was microchipped and the owner was found and she came to pick it up at tea time yesterday.

"It was a bit unusual for us but we were happy to help out."
