ALLOA Musical Players (AMP) brought a smash-hit musical to Clackmannanshire last week.

The local theatre group astounded audiences with its production of Evita – which has music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice – over a five-day run.

With show-stopping numbers, along with fantastic sets and costumes, they were in for a real treat at Alloa Town Hall between Tuesday, March 7 and Saturday, March 11.

According to AMP president Rob McDermott, the show was very successful with appreciative audiences having "bowled over the cast and crew with their enthusiasm and praise".

He said: "This is the culmination of over six months hard work, involving a whole range of people from across Clackmannanshire.

"Alloa Musical Players is a community based organisation and this year has seen us develop even more relationships across a range of local organisations including Hillfoots Music for Youth, who have supplied a number of the wonderful musicians playing in our orchestra, Alva craft makers, who have made some of our props for this show, a range of local businesses and organisations, including the local rotary and Forth Valley College, that have sponsored tables, supplied expertise and helped out front of house. We are in debt to them all.

"We always hoped that Evita would be an important show for AMP, hopefully allowing us to appeal to a large audience, old and new, and to attract new members – it certainly has done this. 

"It has also consolidated the organisation as part of a wider community of organisations that work together to entertain, support and develop the people of Clackmannanshire and beyond."

AMP will prepare for next year's show at the town hall in March – 9 to 5.
