ASDA Alloa has donated a total of £900 in charity funding to groups, as part of the latest round of Green Token Given donations.

Wasps Girls Community Football Club, Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida Scotland and Reachout with Arts in Mind have all received a boost thanks to the scheme.

Community champion at the local supermarket, Joanna Scobie, said: "We are very honoured to be able to continually support local charity groups from across Alloa.

"At Asda, we’re always thrilled when customers nominated charities close to them to be in with the chance of benefitting from these vital funding boosts.

"We couldn’t be happier showing our appreciation by helping as much as we can with these latest donations and raising awareness of the hard work done by all groups."

The scheme allows customers to pick groups and causes close to their own hearts to gain a vital cash injection.

More than 10,000 UK charities and causes near Asda stores will benefit from additional funding this year, thanks to a £1 million investment by the Asda Foundation.

Recipients are awarded funds based on customers dropping a green token into one of three boxes, one for each shortlisted charity.

At the end of the voting period, the group with the largest amount of tokens receives £500 and the remaining two each get £200.

Local organisation Wasps Girls Community Football Club aims to create sports opportunities for girls in the Alloa area.

Regardless of age and experience, all members have a part to play in the community team, participating in weekly training sessions.

Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida Scotland provides support to those affected by spina bifida, hydrocephalus or allied conditions, providing information support and projects to its members.

The organisation aims to raise public awareness of spina bifida and its related conditions.

Meanwhile, Reachout with Arts in Mind, based in Alloa, is a self-help organisation which provides a safe and friendly environment to adults who are experiencing mental health issues.

It offers opportunities to get involved with expressive art projects, music and drama.

Lesley Arthur, chief executive at Reachout with Arts in Mind, said: "The entire team at Reachout with Arts in Mind would like to thank Asda Alloa for this incredibly generous donation.

"Charitable grants and donations are vital in helping us continue the work we do and helping support as many local people as possible.

"The £200 donation from the Asda Foundation is greatly appreciated and will be a huge help to us, it is also a bonus to know that we are supported by members of the wider local community too."
