AN event being held this weekend will offer the opportunity to wander around Alloa's newest nature reserve.

Join RSPB Scotland Black Devon Wetlands for a free guided walk on Sunday, June 11 from 2-4pm and discover more about the fascinating wildlife on site.

Ami Kirkbright, RSPB Scotland Futurescapes assistant for the Inner Forth, said: "Spring has been kind to us this year and so many wonderful birds, butterflies and plants mean that the reserve is looking and sounding amazing.

"It’s a fantastic time to be out and about exploring Black Devon Wetlands wildlife and enjoying the amazing views of the newly enhanced wetland landscape.

"It would be a great chance for local people to see firsthand how the area has developed and how we survey some of our important wildlife that call it their home."

People will also be able to find out a bit about the ongoing management of the reserve and how the RSPB surveys the wildlife.

The spot is made up of a mix of wetland habitats, so is a perfect place to see wildfowl and waders.

There is always something exciting to discover on this new reserve and it is perfectly situated right on the edge of Alloa and in the heart of the Inner Forth.

The workis one of nearly 50 projects around the Inner Forth that form the Inner Forth Landscape Initiative, funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Please meet at the small car park on the junction of Bowhouse Road and Riverside View in Alloa, and remember to dress for the weather, and for walking on potentially wet, muddy paths.

The event is free thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of the National Lottery.

Booking is advisable as places are limited – please email innerforthreserves@rspb.org.uk for more information and to book your place.
