IT WAS a show with a difference at the Coach House Theatre for one Clackmannanshire resident.

When it looked like health difficulties would prevent Mabel Christie from attending their latest production, The Alman Dramatic Club were having none of it.

They invited her along to a special performance, all of her own, on Monday night.

It came complete with a cup of tea on stage, plenty of laughter and she said she was “treated like royalty”.

A regular at the Alloa theatre, Mabel is a patron of The Alman and has attended its shows on and off since the 50s.

The 91-year-old, from Tillicoultry, was delighted that she did not have to miss out on the summer production of Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.

She said: “I thought it was very kind of them – I appreciated that very much.

“I would recommend it; I would say to people get going along.

“I know quite a number that go regularly so they will have their tickets.”

The stage version of the big hit London production by the Goodale Brothers runs this month.

George Marcinkiewicz takes on the role of Jeeves, while Bertie Wooster is played with great gusto by Brian Tripney.

Aunt Dahlia is captured by Samantha Mackenzie and Justice of the Peace is Stuart Bailey, whose twin role as both Sir Watkin and his niece has been cited as a tour-de-force.

Senga Awlson has co-directed the piece alongside artistic director Gerry Docherty, while the set has been constructed by Ron Mennie, Jim Allan and Walter Awlson.

Tickets are £10 each, limited to 63 per performance, and are available from thealman.com

Times: 7.30pm from Thursday, August 17, to Saturday, August 19, then from Monday, August 21, to Thursday, August 24.

There is also a matinee on the Saturday at 2.30pm.
