CLACKS MP Luke Graham joined community police officers walking the beat in the Wee County last Friday night.

Mr Graham walked through Alloa town centre before heading out to the Hillfoots and villages by car.

The MP saw first-hand the challenges Wee County officers face when trying to guarantee community safety and assist with residential disturbances.

Mr Graham was also able to talk about the rise in crimes relating to mental health issues that police are dealing with on a more frequent basis, as well as youth crime rates in Clackmannanshire.

He said: "Our local police are working hard to keep the local people of Clackmannanshire safe. The job they do is tough and they do it to a very high standard with integrity and genuine care for the people in our county.

"On Friday night I saw the value of community officers – people who know our towns and villages and local people know them.

"The officers have raised issues with me on the national and local scale I will be taking these forward in Westminster and with local colleagues in Holyrood and Clackmannanshire Council itself."
