AN ALLOA woman is set to face her fears by zip-sliding across the Clyde in order to raise money for charity.

Michelle Hunter is afraid of heights – and water – but is not going to let that get in the way of her raising money for breast cancer care despite saying that she was retired from charity fundraising.

She told the Advertiser: “I am really nervous. I am petrified of heights so I am really facing my fears.

"I have done different challenges in the past with running and cycling and I was just drawn to this one as well.

“My mother-in-law said I’m an adrenaline junkie.”

While Michelle wasn’t sure about whether to do the challenge or not, her husband, Andy, sealed the deal by pledging to accompany her on the zip line.

She continued: “He said he would do it as well, so it helps that he is going straight after me. That makes me feel a bit better.”

Michelle owns the jewellery shop in Alloa, Dunbar’s, and she said that her staff have been excellent in raising extra funds from her kind hearted customers.

“We have raised £200 in the shop at the moment but I would love to get at least £500,” said added.

“We get people coming into the shop and giving money. They’ve been great.”

The inspiration behind the challenge for Michelle is her mum who passed away due to an aneurysm and wants to pay tribute to her memory with this latest challenge.

Michelle has also raised money in the past for CHAS and Cancer Research and says a bit of advice sticks with her for challenges.

She said: “Face your fear head on. If someone says you won’t then I, or we, will.

"I’m just hoping everyone will see this is a huge challenge for me and give generously.”

Michelle wishes to pay thanks to her husband, all of her staff who ask customers to donate and of course all of her customers who kindly donate to her charitable efforts.
