LUKE GRAHAM and his office staff were put to work by the team at Hawkhill Community Centre recently as part of a new initiative.

The Alloa centre's volunteers welcomed the Ochil and South Perthshire MP last week as he and his staff kicked off the first of many rolling community actions days.

Mr Graham and his team will look to regularly roll up their sleeves and help out with community projects around the constituency.

Subsequently, he is keen to hear from anyone who has a project in the pipeline and would like some help to get it off the ground.

Mr Graham said: “I would like to thank Michael, Billy, Gary and the team here at Hawkhill for showing us the ropes.

“It was great to hear about the work of the centre, see some of the groups in action, and get our hands dirty. The team here do a fantastic job serving the local community; [we're] glad we could muck in."

Mr Graham continued by saying that helping local community groups is something he is keen to stay involved in.

He added: “I've wanted to get these going since being elected last year. A visit is one thing, but rolling up your sleeves and getting involved is a lot better.

"I think a key part of the job is being able to support local community groups, whilst still delivering in the House of Commons."

Community action days will be timed with parliamentary recess.
