A TEENAGER could be facing a serious punishment after a court heard how she planned to murder her former boyfriend.

Courtney McNiven appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday after previously pleading guilty to acting in a threatening manner by uttering threats of violence in relation to her ex-partner.

McNiven had pleaded not guilty to an allegation of carrying an offensive weapon, namely a screwdriver, which was accepted by the Crown.

Depute fiscal Susannah Hutchison then read out a full narration of events, which included the 19-year-old telling police officers on March 4, that she was going to “kill him”.

This prompted Sheriff Simon Collins to interrupt Ms Hutchison to query why he was hearing such “disturbing” details when the guilty charge was a minor offence.

McNiven attended Chalmers, Bank Street, Alloa, the complainer's place of work and told him to come outside.

She then repeatedly asked police officers if they were looking for her, before telling them that she had a weapon and was going to kill the male.

He then came outside, causing McNiven to become aggressive towards him before suffering a seizure. While in hospital, McNiven, of Simpson Drive, Falkirk, commented that she would “have to wait 'til next week to do him in”.

Sheriff Collins told McNiven’s lawyer that the plan would have been to defer sentence for three months for good behaviour, but now can not do so as he heard a disturbing back story to the charge.

He called for reports to be prepared, with the case to call again on June 21.
