VISITORS to Banchory Primary School enjoyed a fantastic summer fun day in the beautiful sunshine.

The school held their pre-summer event on Saturday, May 26, and hailed it a roaring success as over 70 per cent of the school attended with their families in tow.

The day will also have a long-lasting affect as over £600 was raised through various means which will go towards different causes, with some already being spent already.

Mrs Longmuir, one of the organisers of the event at the school, told the Advertiser how well it went.

She said: “It went really well. We raised at least £600 which was also great. There was loads to do for everyone including pony rides, face painting, a bouncy castle and a car boot sale.

"There was also food on offer with waffles and hotdogs being made.

“Without doubt the biggest money-maker was throwing the wet sponge at teachers and primary seven kids. That was great fun.”

Mrs Longmuir continued: “It was fantastically attended. I think at least 70 per cent of the school came out with their families.”

There was also a raffle with four hamper prizes – rainy day, sunny day, pamper and chocolate. One of the hampers was even won by Mrs Longmuir herself to her delight.

The school has already invested some of the takings by buying an extra-long hose for the garden which they are currently developing in the playground, which will include a quiet area.

Mrs Longmuir wished to pay thanks to those who helped, including staff, parents and even the children who came along to help.
