AN ALLOA man will find out his sentence later this month after he pleaded guilty to exposing a newborn child to harm by taking drugs.

Stuart Polly admitted the allegation when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, June 4.

The charge, which was originally against two people, states that on July 29 of last year, Polly wilfully exposed a child in a manner likely to cause her unnecessary suffering or injury to health.

Polly misused controlled substances to such an extent that he was "unaware of his surroundings" and incapable of taking care of the child.

The tot was less than two months old at the time of the offence, which took place at a property on Ashley Terrace.

Sheriff Derek Reekie called for reports to be prepared before hearing from Kelly Howe, the 38-year-old’s defence lawyer.

Polly will attend interviews with the social work department before re-appearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on June 28.
