THE Inner Forth Landscape Initiative and RSPB Scotland are joining in with the Great Get Together Campaign this weekend.

A celebratory tea party will be held at RSPB Black Devon Wetlands in Alloa and people are invited to head along for an afternoon of pond dipping, bug hunting and wildlife watching, topped off with some well-earned tea and cake.

Local coffee connoisseurs The Coffee Perch will be on hand to provide refreshment and, for any thirsty cyclists, there will be the opportunity to have a go at whizzing up fruity juice on one of Stirling Cycle Hub’s smoothie bikes.

Lizzy Cairns, IFLI’s programme assistant, heralded the event as a fantastic way to celebrate the ethos of the Great Get Together campaign.

She said: "It will be wonderful to hold this event on an RSPB reserve as part of a wider national movement.

"As the RSPB are partners of the Great Get Together campaign, it’s great for us to be able to invite local communities on to our reserves and see the incredible wildlife that we have on our doorstep, as well as having the chance to meet other people from the area and celebrate the fantastic things we have in common."

The event on Saturday, June 23, is set to run from 2-6pm, and will join hundreds of other events happening across Scotland and the rest of the UK to celebrate the Great Get Together Campaign, run by the Jo Cox Foundation.

As well as being a part of the national Great Get Together Weekend, this event is also part of Inner Forth Landscape Initiative’s mini-festival of free family events happening all around the Inner Forth area.

There will be an event in each local authority area that the Initiative covers – Falkirk, Clackmannanshire, Stirling and Fife, with activities for everyone, whether you’re interested in wildlife, history, taking tea with old friends or learning new skills.

All the events will be free, thanks to the way IFLI is funded by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund.
