A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder, following an alleged stabbing in Alva.

David Cameron, 38, made no plea or declaration as he was hauled before Alloa Sheriff Court today (Wednesday).

It has been alleged he attacked another man during an altercation on The Nebit during the small hours of yesterday morning.

He also faces a separate charge of possession under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

The accused, from Alva, has since been remanded in custody and will re-appear before a sheriff next week.

A trial will then be scheduled at a later date.

The Advertiser understands the alleged victim received wounds to his body and neck.

However, Police Scotland have confirmed his injuries were not life threatening.

Previously, a spokesperson said: “We received a report of a serious assault in Alva.

“A 40-year-old man was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
