Major funding boost for drug support group
LOCALS Against Drug Abuse (LADA) – Alloa’s pioneering support group for young people with drug and alcohol addiction issues and their families – has received a major funding boost from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust in Scotland.

Pole-axed driver was inches from death
A TILLICOULTRY man was just inches from death when a metal pole smashed through his car windscreen in a freak accident. Anton Bruinzeel was driving along the A907 from Fife approaching the Gartarry Roundabout when an unsecured metal pole from a passing transit pick-up caught on a lorry in front of him before it crashed through his windscreen.

Mechanic's 1000-mile rally after cancer op
A MECHANIC took part in the world’s toughest endurance motorbike trek just weeks after undergoing an operation to remove a cancerous tumour. George Murray was supposed to be resting from the procedure but instead was negotiating 1000 miles of rugged terrain along South Africa’s ‘Wild Coast’.

Alloa team are 'A1' in African motorbike rally
THERE was blood, sweat and tears as a team of motorbike enthusiasts took part in a 1000-mile charity trek across South Africa’s Wild Coast. A1 Autos owner Jim McEwan, his two sons, Fraser and Kevin, and work colleague George Murray participated in Enduro Africa – a demanding eight-day bike trek along the Eastern Cape.

A FATAL Accident Inquiry will take place next month into the death of Menstrie toddler Muireann McLaughlin. The two-year-old died at home in February after she became entangled in a blind cord.
