Work progresses following Kincardine mine collapses
AN END may be in sight for Kincardine residents who have seen their street turned upside down by a recent series of coal mine collapses. The Advertiser reported last month on a series of collapses of disused shallow coal workings that have played havoc with Riverside Terrace.

Railway timetable is in a bit of a muddle
THERE appears to be confusion over the long awaited opening date of the Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine rail line. As the light at the end of the tunnel draws nearer regarding the completion of the project, confirmation of exactly when trains will start to arrive has still to be confirmed.

Council considers buying Gartmorn Dam
GARTMORN DAM could come under public ownership following an announcement by Scottish Water that it plans to sell it. First refusal has been offered to Clackmannanshire Council with a fee in the region of £50,000 required to purchase the dam.

THE hike in spirits duty could threaten jobs and damage the Clackmannanshire economy, says Ochil MSP Keith Brown. Mr Brown condemned Chancellor Alastair Darling’s Budget announcement of a nine per cent increase in spirits duty, describing it as a move by the Labour Government to “prop up embattled UK finances”.
