Two new babies check-in on Christmas Day
LOUISE Balderston from Alloa gave birth to to Clackmannanshire’s first baby on Christmas Day – 7lb 15oz Tyler. The bouncing baby boy kept everyone waiting as Louise was due on 19 December.

Wind farm proposal for landfill site

Go-ahead for study into Alloa rail line extension
A FEASIBILITY study will be carried out to look at the possibility of extending the Alloa rail line to Rosyth. The decision by SEStran – the South East Scotland Transport Partnership – to carry out the study follows the release of new figures which show the reopened Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine line has been an outstanding success.

Council vows to find fund to pay for schools
CASH-STRAPPED Clackmannanshire Council is insisting funding will be in place to pay for the three new secondary schools being built in the county. But the council has revealed that the opening of the new Alloa Academy has been further delayed – it follows the decision to put back the opening of Alva Academy by over three months.

Lorry driver caught with £4.2 million cocaine haul
AN ALLOA lorry driver was caught red-handed with cocaine worth a street value of £4.2 million, a court was told on Tuesday. The High Court in Glasgow heard that 47-year-old Cameron McFarlane’s lorry was stopped by police on the M90 on 10 October this year.

Abandoned pups are found new homes for Christmas

Commanding officer is so proud of his troops
THE commanding officer of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders has paid a glowing tribute to his troops following their arduous six-month deployment in Afghanistan. Lieutenant Colonel David Richmond watched with pride as over 300 soldiers marched through the streets of Alloa on Friday in their Homecoming Parade.
