Fury as lollipop patrols are cut
A BID to save £20,000 could end up costing lives according to those opposing the decision to axe 13 of the county’s lollipop men and ladies. Parents and politicians have criticised the decision taken during Thursday’s highly charged meeting of Clackmannanshire Council to cut the number of crossing patrols in the county.

THE decision to cut crossing patrols in Clackmannanshire has polarised the opinions of local politicians. Opposition councillors are calling for a public meeting on the subject, whilst those backing the move claim it is not the responsibility of the council to ensure children get to school safely – and the decision had previously been agreed by all sides.

Cambus 'cut off' as rail barrier gets stuck
RESIDENTS of Cambus were ‘cut off’ last Tuesday morning when the level crossing gates across the only road into the village got stuck. Motorists were trapped at the gates for more than an hour, with many drivers unable to make their way to work or to take their children to school.

THE people of Clackmannanshire – like so many across the land – gathered at war memorials on Sunday to pay their respects to those who lost their lives serving their country. This year’s services took on additional significance, marking the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War at 11am on 11 November 1918.

£1.5 million boost to local economy
A £1.5 MILLION development on the former Jamieson McGregor yard in Alloa will bring a significant boost to Clackmannanshire’s economy. Alloa businessman Mike Mulraney has secured planning permission to build three new units on the site which will add 35,000 square foot of warehousing space to the yard at Kelliebank Engineering Works.
