DOLLAR’S Burnside Hall was looking blooming marvellous at the weekend, as the village’s annual flower show got underway.
The new venue was awash with flora and fauna, as the community turned out in style to witness a dazzling display of garden delights in a number of categories including cut flowers, pot plants, fruit, vegetables, floral art and photographs.
The milestone show, which this year marked its 125th birthday, was opened by Rev Jeremy Auld, Rector of St James Episcopal Church, who expressed his delight at the number of high quality entries again this year.
But the minister was most impressed with the spirit of Kay Mathers, who insisted on showing her finest roses in the Flower Section despite just being discharged from hospital - and won the Rose Bowl for best roses.
