Award-winning student Shona McElroy.
AN ALLOA student has been crowned the Most Enterprising Student 2007 in Forth Valley, Fife and Tayside.
Shona McElroy, a 25-year-old accountancy student, took part in the Shell Step programme and spent the summer undertaking new product market research, helping develop a business strategy to support Falkirk-based A. L. Gordon Engineering Ltd’s future growth.
Shona was chosen as the overall winner by a panel of judges.
She said, “This is really exciting. There was lots of hard work put in over the eight weeks of the project and for that to be acknowledged is great.”
Shona, who currently studies at Stirling University and is an ex-Dollar Academy pupil, will now go through to the Scottish Final in Edinburgh on the 26 September, where she will face winners from across the rest of Scotland.
She added, “There’s no doubt this experience will stand me in good stead when I finish university and join the job market.”
