Homes at risk from flooding

Printer Print Article

HOMES in Alloa, Alva, Clackmannan and Kincardine are at risk from flooding according to details released this week by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

A detailed map of flood risk zones has indicated areas which could be in danger of flooding from rivers or the sea.

The map on SEPA’s internet page shows that in Alloa the main areas at risk are near the harbour for sea flooding and the area around Whins Road from river flooding.

Houses on land to the south of East Stirling Street in Alva could be vulnerable to river flooding as are homes near the burn in Clackmannan.

Residents in Kincardine could be most affected by rising sea levels as SEPA’s map shows that a large chunk of the land to the south of the Main Road and Toll Road are vulnerable to being flooded.

However, the flood map does not take into account flood defences in place just now or in the future.
