FLORIST Julie Duncan is delighted with the funds she has raised ahead of climbing into the saddle and taking part in her Brazilian cycling adventure.

Julie jets off to South America this week to cycle 200 miles in sweltering conditions to raise money for children’s cancer and leukemia charity CLIC Sargent.

So far, Julie has raised over £3600 thanks to generous donations from customers at her shop, a race night at the Locker Room in Alloa and a bingo tea at St John’s Primary.

Julie said, “I’d really like to say thanks to everyone for their support and help – it has been fantastic.”

In particular, Julie wanted to thank Billy Douglas at the Locker Room, the PSA at St John’s, Sterling Furniture Group and her mum, dad, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Jack.

Julie said, “I’m very nervous now it’s getting nearer but I’m looking forward to it for the scenery and the sights.

“I’m a bit worried about the trip emotionally and physically.

“Physically it’ll be hard as I’m cycling 200 miles, and emotionally working with the children in the hospital might be quite difficult.

“It’ll be a challenging experience but hopefully it will be good.”
