DETECTIVES from the British Transport Police are hunting thieves who stole a four-tonne generator from the new Alloa branch line.

The theft took place between 18 and 20 December last year from the building site adjacent to the new line and the A907 – between the village of Clackmannan and the Gartarry roundabout.

The generator – measuring approximately five metres long and one metre wide – is worth a five-figure sum of money.

Detective Constable Mark Taylor, of the British Transport Police, said, “The sheer size and weight of the generator means that it would have required a large flatbed lorry with a crane attached to lift it. I am sure this would have been clearly visible to anyone in the area at the time and indeed caused anyone driving past to slow down and adjust their road position.

“I am anxious to speak with anyone who travels using the busy A907 road between Alloa and the Gartarry roundabout.

“If you have any information about the theft or have any knowledge of those involved please contact me on 0800 405040 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
