THE glitz and glamour of the Oscars came to Alloa Town Hall on Saturday as everyone from the Hulk to Elvis appeared to celebrate Carlyn Calder’s 21st birthday.
Around 140 friends and family turned out to the Oscar-themed birthday bash for Clackmannan singer Carlyn.
The red carpet was rolled out at the entrance of the hall and everyone was invited to attend in either formal wear or in fancy dress.
Even Carlyn’s band mates from new Scottish all-girl group Atlanta joined in on the fun and gave a taster of their forthcoming single “Don’t Think I’m Not” performing an accapella version.
She said, “We had a limo which took us up to Stirling Castle. The girls from the band really enjoyed it and thought Alloa was a lovely wee town.
“I always wanted to walk down a red carpet and with Oscar night being so close to my birthday it was the perfect opportunity for everybody to glam up.”
Marlyn Monroe pictures dotted the hall as well as some photos of Carlyn through her younger years.
And it wouldn’t be a proper Oscar tribute night without the dishing out of the gongs themselves – this time with categories such as “Best dressed”, “Best fancy dressed” and “Best parents”.
She added, “I liked to thank all my friends and family who attended. Everyone made a really good effort to get dressed up for the evening and thank you all for the lovely gifts.”
As well as coming a week after the actual Oscar ceremony in Hollywood, Carlyn’s birthday marked a week since she was in London with Atlanta recording songs with the London Community Gospel Choir.
The girls put down the tracks at the world famous Sarm West Studio 1, previously used by such acts as Madonna, Justin Timberlake and Paul McCartney.
The London Community Gospel Choir have added their vocal talents to a wide range of clients including Elton John’s “Circle of Life” for The Lion King.
Atlanta’s debut single is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
