Enjoy the taste of success with Harviestoun Brewery
Readers have a chance of winning a crate of Schiehallion.
THE Alloa & Hillfoots Advertiser has teamed up with Alva-based micro-brewery Harviestoun to give away crates of its award-winning beers to three lucky readers.
Harviestoun is offering our winners a crate each of Bitter and Twisted, Old Engine Oil and Schiehallion.
Over the past 20 years, Harviestoun has won dozens of awards for its beers both at home and abroad.
In particular, its blond beer, Bitter and Twisted, has achieved the title of Supreme Champion of Britain 2003 at CAMRA’s Great British Beer Festival, and World’s Best Ale at the World Beer Awards 2007.
The unusually titled Old Engine Oil – named because of its resemblance to thick car engine oil – is a strong, thick and wickedly smooth chocolatey ‘after dinner’ beer.
The crisp, dry and airy Schiehallion beer is delicately crafted with Hersbrucker lager hops, which provides a beautifully fresh, grapefruity taste.
Harviestoun always uses the finest quality barley, hops, yeast and water, with no hop concentrates – just the whole flower as grown by Mother Nature.
The brewery was recently bought from Caledonian Brewing Company (CBC) by three CBC shareholders – Sandy Orr, Donald MacDonald and Stephen Crawley – which has preserved Harviestoun’s independent status ahead of Caledonian’s purchase by Dutch giants Heineken.
Harviestoun is experiencing growth at a rate of 20 per cent a year both at home and abroad. Its new beer, Ola Dubh, matured in whisky casks, is proving to be particularly popular in America and will be launched in Britain later in the year.
