Boys' Brigade pays tribute to special couple
By Jamie MacDonald
Retiring officers John and Jessie Condie have given over 50 years service between them.
THERE was an extra special presentation at this year’s Dollar Boys’ Brigade awards ceremony.
John and Jessie Condie have decided to step down from running the Company Section of the 34th Stirling Company after 27 and 26 years of service respectively.
Former Dollar BB members now living all over Scotland attended the Burnside Hall on Friday night to show their appreciation for the work carried out by John and Jessie over the years.
In addition, emails congratulating them arrived from all over the world, including the USA and Iraq.
Bob Anderson, company lieutenant, told the Advertiser, “We would like to say thank you to John and Jessie for all the work they have done for the company.
“When you see people travelling to the presentation and getting in touch from the other side of the world it shows just how much they are appreciated.”
The President of the Stirling Battalion, Alan Dunn, was on hand on the night to pay tribute to John and Jessie – they will soon be receiving specially-made walking sticks as a gift.
John will continue to help run the Junior Section and Jessie will also continue her work with the Anchor Boys.
Awards presented to the boys on the night included the Queen’s Badge given to James McNee, who is currently working towards his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award, and a perfect attendance award to Hayden Colley – the first to be presented in Dollar for five years.
