TIME is running out to enter our competition to win a place on the Stirling-Alloa-Kincardine rail line’s official opening day train.

The rail line will open on Monday 19 May bringing passenger services to Alloa for the first time in 40 years.

The official reopening will take place on 15 May and to coincide with the historic occasion Transport Scotland have organised a special maiden voyage and 10 lucky readers have a chance to be there.

Guests will be invited to board a spectacular steam train which will transport them from the new Alloa train station to Stirling.

The train will be steam hauled by The Great Marquess 61994, a majestic locomotive built in 1939 while on the return journey heritage Deltic diesel Royal Scots Grey 55022 will be leading the carriages.

The maiden journey will be preceded by a celebratory breakfast reception accompanied by music from Hillfoots Music for Youth.

Transport Scotland and the Alloa & Hillfoots Advertiser have five pairs of tickets to give away for the launch celebration and maiden journey on 15 May.

To have a chance of winning, all you have to do is send your name, address, contact telephone number and age to: Golden Tickets Competition, Smarts, 226 West George Street, Glasgow G2 2PQ

Competition terms & conditions: The closing date is Monday 12 May, entries received after this date will not be valid for the prize draw. The first five names drawn after the closing date will each receive a pair of tickets to the launch event on 15 May; the judge’s decision is final. Each ticket admits one. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. The event is fully accessible to those with disabilities, but we would ask that those with special requirements inform us in advance.
