Performing at the SECC in Glasgow was a dream come true for Carlyn.

SINGER Carlyn Calder realised a life long dream when she performed on stage at the SECC with Scottish girl group Atlanta.

The 21-year-old from Clackmannan told the packed venue “Good Evening, Glasgow” before joining her bandmates in belting out their song Five Star Lover.

The girls were supporting former X Factor winner Shane Ward on Monday night.

Ever since Carlyn took to the stage with Forefront Children’s Theatre she had dreamt about performing in front of a capacity crowd at the exhibition centre in Glasgow.

Speaking after the gig, she said, “I couldn’t believe we were going to be on the same stage that the likes of Usher, Christina Aguilera and Kanye West had been on. When we were walking back stage I was sliding my feet across the ground thinking ‘Usher has walked here’.

“We were on stage about 7.30pm and spoke to the audience, getting the crowd going for Shane. The lights were out when we walked on and the crowd were screaming.

“When you get that response it makes you more excited and you respond to that.

“It was amazing – the best night of my whole life.”

Now Carlyn is focused on the Glasgow 10k on Sunday where she will be running with her bandmates to raise money for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital.

The race, which ends at Bellahouston Park, passes through Maxwell Park and Pollok Park.

Carlyn said, “Last week I didn’t really do much training because we were busy but I’ve been out jogging with my friends and with the dog.”

She joked, “Maybe I’ll just say to the girls that we’ll walk it. Even at school in PE the teachers would be shouting at me to keep going during cross country and I’d be at the back walking with my friends.”

Atlanta’s debut single, ‘Don’t think I’m Not’, is available to download through itunes. To learn more about the band or listen to a preview of their debut album go to www.myspace.com/atlantagirlgroup
