A SIGN outside an Alloa pub is proving to be a rather unusual tourist attraction.

Instead of taking in the beauty of the Highlands tourists are flocking to Crams in Alloa to see a ‘Nae Numpties Allowed’ sign!

Jim Hughes is helping out in the bar while his partner and manageress, Marion Hopkins, is away, and told the Advertiser that the sign has proved a huge hit.

“We were given the board by Bellhaven but because we don’t serve meals, Marion wondered what to put on it,” explained Jim.

“One day she got so fed up of eejits coming back in after she had thrown them out that she said, ‘I know what I will put on the board – Nae Numpties Allowed’.

“It has caused a lot of amusement with customers and is proving quite a hit with tourists who are asking us to take their pictures standing next to it. We had a young Canadian couple in not that long ago and some Australians.

“It seems that people are choosing to leave behind the beauty of the Highlands and make a detour to Alloa.

“I would say its turned into a bit of a tourist attraction.”

“Everyone has taken it in good humour although some people have been rubbing out the word ‘Nae’ at night!”
