CLACKMANNAN singer Carlyn Calder was also among the thousands taking part in the Women’s 10K.
The 21-year-old and fellow members of the girl group Atlanta hope to one day live life in the fast lane thanks to their music, but they made do with a gentle jog during the race.
Carlyn took part to raise money for Yorkhill Children’s Hospital in Glasgow, and made it across the finishing line in one hour and 22 minutes.
Speaking after the event, she said, “My legs are a bit painful but nothing I can’t handle. I really enjoyed the race and would definitely encourage the ladies to take part.”
It’s been a busy – but exciting – time for Carlyn and the other group members, having earlier this month performed on stage at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow.
Atlanta were supporting former X Factor winner Shayne Ward.
Ever since Carlyn took to the stage with Forefront Children’s Theatre she had dreamt about performing in front of a capacity crowd at the top Glasgow venue.
She said, “We were on stage about 7.30pm and spoke to the audience, getting the crowd going for Shayne. The lights were out when we walked on and the crowd was screaming.
“When you get that response it makes you more excited and you respond to that.
“It was amazing – the best night of my whole life.”
