KINCARDINE Gala welcomed a record crowd to the village’s ‘royal’ fun and family day on Saturday.

Following a week of pre-gala activities, including a pet show, races, a quiz and sport, the main event, Gala Day, got underway with the annual procession to Tulliallan Public Park.

Led by the award-winning Kincardine and Tulliallan Boys’ Brigade Band, the parade was joined by around 3000 residents and visitors.

It proved a right royal occasion on arrival at the park where the new Gala Queen, Daisy Mason, was crowned by former Tulliallan Primary School teacher Mrs Nan Shanks. This heralded the start of an action-packed programme of fun, games and entertainment including the Achinlay Dog Agility Team, a magician, inflatable Sumo wrestlers, bucking bronco, archery, quad bikes and children’s rides.

Kincardine Gala committee secretary, Michelle Whyte, told the Advertiser, “It was a great day with one of the biggest turnouts we have had for years.

“We were very lucky with the weather and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

Michelle added that the winner of one of the competitions, the Corner Game, was Edwin Jones.

“He very generously declined his prize of a £200 voucher for J.W. Smith’s cycle shop in Falkirk and handed it over to the runner-up. Four-year-old Charlie Orr from Kincardine was absolutely delighted,” said Michelle.
