THERE were no tremors in Alloa three weeks ago to explain the hole Annmarie O’Donnell found blocking her driveway.
Man-made, it has prevented Annemarie car access to the front drive of her Turret Court house ever since.
She told the Advertiser that Scottish Water dug the hole without personally notifying her of their intentions.
Annmarie said, “Scottish Water apologised but said it was the contractors fault, not theirs, and that the work had been scheduled for completion by 3 July.”
That date has now come and gone but sadly, for Annmarie, the hole has not.
She went on, “It was originally a deeper hole before they sent someone to partially fill it. Since then I’ve seen vans driving around and workmen getting out to have a look, but nothing has actually been done.”
Now Annmarie has to park her car in the street after finishing her job. She works shifts for the Scottish Society for Autism.
She added, “There are a few wee bumps on my car, which I know are unavoidable when children are out playing, but if my car had been in the driveway the damage would have been avoidable.”
On going to press, a Scottish Water spokesperson told the Advertiser, “A squad of Scottish Water engineers will repair the hole in Turret Court today (Tuesday 15 July).
“The excavation was part of a leakage investigation that is now complete and was scheduled to be reinstated soon. We apologise to local residents for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
