SINCE swapping the London rat race for Alloa, Lisa Jeary has lost five stones in weight through diet, exercise and various complimentary therapies.
Lisa moved to Alloa last year to set up a new business – a stressful time for anyone.
She told the Advertiser, “I moved up here from London last year to change my lifestyle and set up a new business. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done. There’s a wonderful atmosphere in this area, I love the Ochil Hills, and everything about the place.”
Lisa has made it a lifestyle change in more ways than one, and, as her 40th birthday approached last year, she set her mind on losing weight.
She said, “I started a year and a half ago, last October, when I turned 40. I had tried to lose weight many times before, but it has worked this time. I was in a different frame of mind.”
The new environment has certainly worked wonders for Lisa and she reached a major landmark at the turn of this year.
She went on, “I hit my target weight in January and, after that, you just have to be careful.”
Lisa has since then, through hard work and self-control, maintained her target weight.
She added, “I had the Leisure Bowl on my doorstep, was with weight watchers and used complimentary therapies, including emotional freedom technique (EFT) and reiki. It all just came together and worked for me.”
EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture, except needles aren’t necessary. Instead, well-established energy points on the body are stimulated by the tapping of fingertips. The process is easy to memorise and is portable, so it can be done anywhere.
Reiki is an ancient healing therapy which is believed to have originated from the experiences of Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese monk. As a complimentary therapy it is not intended to replace conventional medicine.
Lisa is now a qualified practitioner of both, and wants to use her knowledge and experience to help others.
She said, “I want to help other people and am now qualified to take reiki and EFT sessions, and will be holding classes in my house.”
“Complimentary therapies can help cure a number of ailments, but I will be concentrating mainly on weight loss.”
Along with helping others, Lisa wants to continue on her own journey. “ I want to learn more, and would love to be able to open a therapy centre in the future.”
Lisa can be contacted on 01259 212478 or 07850 351 883.
