AN ALLOA dad who agreed to be a drugs courier to help a friend was jailed for three years on Tuesday.

At the High Court in Glasgow, 30-year-old Alan Walsh, of Hill Street, admitted being concerned in the supply of amphetamine.

Walsh was caught red-handed on 22 November last year as he drove from England towards Stirling on the A91.

His car was found to contain amphetamine with a potential maximum street value of £33,200.

Sentencing Walsh, judge Lord Bracadale said, “I accept that you acted as a courier. You drove to England and brought drugs back up to Scotland. However, couriers are important players in the chain.”

Defence advocate Louis Moll said, “Mr Walsh did this to help out a friend who was in a spot of bother. He is disgusted with himself that he became involved and has shown genuine remorse.

“He has two children and worked in the family business of industrial cleaning for 14 years.”
