Former Forefronters return for cabaret night

FORMER members of Forefront Children’s Theatre helped the performing arts group pull in thousands of pounds in funds at their cabaret.
Over Thursday and Friday night, the Alloa Town Hall was alive with the sound of music and dance by Forefront in Harmony, as capacity audiences were treated to excerpts from High School Musical and Let Me Entertain You.
Soloists Donna McEwan, Kara Swinney and Alex Kirby were joined by three special guests – former Forefronters, Kirsty Docherty, Gregor Scott and Lynsey Stalker.
As reported in last week’s Advertiser, Kirsty featured on this year’s X Factor and made it through to boot camp before getting the boot herself.
Gregor Scott, meanwhile, was home for a short break after his professional debut in High School Musical in London.
The prizes were donated by local businesses and individuals.
Described by one audience member as “one of the best nights they’ve had in years”, the evenings brought the amount of funds raised to support former members training for the professional stage to well over £50,000 in the last 12 years.
Forefront’s Jim Stalker said, “Forefront’s youngest members delighted audiences with excerpts from High School Musical, and joined older Forefront members for a sparkling performance of hits from the all-time favourite musical Joseph.
“The senior dancers were outstanding in their many and varied contributions on the evenings, and the cabaret concluded with the entire cast of this year’s panto, Sleeping Beauty, performing a medley of Beach Boys songs.”
In between the cabaret spots there were plenty of prizes to be won in the raffle, tombola and the stage school’s very own wheel of fortune.
Forefront Children’s Theatre is based in Clackmannanshire. Naidha Thomson continues to train the youngsters to perform to the highest standards, maintaining the group’s reputation as Scotland’s leading children’s theatre.
