Sisters' Hallowe'en treat for charity
By Alloa newsroom
KIND-HEARTED guisers Megan and Emma Carman get into the Hallowe'en spirit.
TWO kind-hearted sisters from Tullibody have contacted a national children’s charity to pledge their support by swapping sweets and treats this Hallowe’en in an attempt to raise funds for sick and disabled children.
Seven-year-old Megan Carman and her sister Emma (3) are asking people to make a small donation to the charity instead of giving them sweets.
They want the money to go to Caudwell Children, who provide direct donations of treatments, therapies and specialist equipment to sick and disabled children.
The youngsters, who attend Beaconhurst School and Nursery in Bridge of Allan, will be joined by mum Lorraine for their collection on Friday.
Megan said, “We really want to do something to help children who are not lucky enough to be able to do all the fun things that me and Emma take for granted, including trick or treating in Halloween.
“I can’t wait to dress up and tell people about what we are doing and why because they might know someone we can help.”
Caudwell Children has donated over £8 million to thousands of children with more than 160 medical conditions.
Widely recognised as one of the fastest growing children’s charities, what makes Caudwell Children so unique is that all the administration and management costs are covered by chairman and founder, John Caudwell, meaning every penny raised can go to the cause.
Trudi Beswick, chief executive officer for Caudwell Children, said, “This is a very generous gesture from Megan and Emma. We hope that the people who they meet are supportive of their efforts and help the girls achieve their goals.”
A just giving site has been set up for anyone wishing to pledge their support for the girls online at www.justgiving.com/meganandemmacarman
