SINGER Carlyn Calder has been supporting international dance act Cascada on their UK tour with Scottish girl group Atlanta.
The 21-year-old, who comes from Clackmannan, feels the need to keep pinching herself as events surrounding her girl band continue to pick up pace.
The group has already recorded its music video in London, which features MTV presenter Rickie Haywood Williams, and this week sees the release of their new single ‘5 Star Lover’ on download from itunes.
Anyone wishing a hard-copy of the single will have to wait until next Monday when it will be available in the shops.
The Advertiser caught up with Carlyn in between gigs.
She said, “Making the video was an amazing day. We got up at four in the morning and travelled from Oxford to London and spent the day there shooting.
“I’ve always wanted to be in a music video, ever since I saw Michael Jackson’s ‘Black or White’ video when I was four. I had to pinch myself just to make sure it was real.
“The tour has been going really well. Although we supported Shayne Ward this is the first time we have had a full UK tour experience.
“Every venue has been packed and we’ve had a much better response than we did when we toured the clubs.”
Carlyn was also rubbing shoulders with the stars when Atlanta attended the Scottish Style Awards fashion show last week.
She went on, “Sometimes it gets stressful and you get a little down but you remind yourself how lucky we really are.”
Atlanta will be “coming home” next week when Cascada performs in Edinburgh and Glasgow. They will also be performing on Bonfire Night in Strathclyde Park.
