THIRTEEN school crossing patrol posts are being cut by Clackmannanshire Council.

At a stormy council meeting on Thursday morning, councillors narrowly voted in favour of plans to cut seven crossing patrols with immediate effect, with a further six going as posts become vacant.

Craigbank PTA has voiced concerns about plans to no longer have a lollipop man on patrol at Gregoran/Newtonshaw in Sauchie.

The other crossing patrols which will be cut with immediate effect are Stalker Avenue, Tillicoultry (Tillicoultry PS); Whins Road/Argyll Street, Alloa (Sunnyside PS); Alloa Road/South Pilmuir Road, Main Street/Kirkwynd and Alloa Road/Kirkwynd (all Clackmannan PS); and Devon Road/Kilncraigs Road, Alloa (Park PS).

The other six due to go as posts become vacant are Alloa Road/Menstrie Road, Tullibody, and Alloa/Stirling low road, Station Road, Alloa (both Abercromby PS); Stirling Street, Alva, at the crossing (Alva PS); Clackmannan Road, Alloa, at Alloa Centre (Park PS); Main Street/School Lane, Menstrie, at chemists (Menstrie PS) amd Main Street/Beechwood, Sauchie (Craigbank PS and Deerpark PS).

just a thought , perhaps if less money had been spent on naming a bridge which isent even in clackmannan , the council could have saved at least one lollipop crossing person .y
