ANOTHER successful local businessman has pledged his support to Alloa Athletic.
The board of directors at Recreation Park has been strengthened by the apppointment of Steve Lynch, who was brought up in Tillicoultry and now lives in Alloa.
Wasps chairman Bobby Hopkins officially welcomed Mr Lynch (38) to the club on Friday and is confident this appointment will add a new dimension for the future.
Mr Hopkins said, “We have a good relationship with the community and Steve’s arrival as a successful Alva-based businesman who trades under Blyth Construction will, I am sure, be a big advantage to our club.
“We want to be the best part-time club in Scotland and I am sure Stevie will help us to achieve that. On behalf of the board I extend a warm welcome to him.”
Mr Lynch, a former Alva Academy pupil, runs a successful Blyth Construction with his brother Colin.
He told the Advertiser, "It is a privilege to be joining the Alloa Athletic board at an exciting time for the club.
“Alloa have a great culture in this area and I want to be part of that. I have been associated with and run a successful business, and joining Alloa means I will have to start learning again – I will feel like the office junior!
“I hope to help the club create additional support from the community.”
Although Mr Lynch did not play football, he is certainly sports orientated.
“I played rugby and I am a hobby golfer playing at Tillicoultry and Gleneagles” he said.
“I have always supported Alloa Athletic since my grandfather took me to games a long time ago. I also watch Sauchie Juniors.”
Mr Lynch has sponsored Alloa FC on various occasions.
He said, “ I always enjoyed attending matches and I appreciated the attention to detail at corporate sponsorship days. I just hope that I can follow that lead now that I am a director.”
