ALLOA Athletic’s new stand for visiting supporters will be arriving at Recreation Park sooner than originally anticipated.
Moves have been going on for some time to have this latest addition to the ground put in place, which could be completed by mid-September.
Mike Mulraney, who has been working hard to have the area opposite the main stand ready for work, told the Advertiser, “I am happy to say that we have been able to source a new stand which will seat 519 supporters covered which is due to funding from various sources.
“Our club has been able to secure a grant for £40,000 and a similar amount from one of our sponsors Blyth Construction, coursesy of our new club director Stevie Lynch.
“Alloa Athletic will also contribute to the funding and we are now looking to have the stand installed soon, possibly for use in mid September.”
Mr Mulraney added, “I have been working hard during the last few months to bring the stand to Recreation Park and because of this have not wished to say too much about it until the deal was completed.
“We eventually secured the deal with Glamorgan County Cricket Club, so we are now on our way to having it installed sooner than we originally expected.
“Once it is in place the life span will be somewhere between 25 and 30 years but the good thing is it can be moved around the ground if we wish, to behind the goals at the railway end, for example.
“The construction type means it is scaleable so we could keep on adding to it if we wished. It could have more seats brought in, and end up right round the ground if we wanted.”
