Injury nightmare at an end for Alloa's Dougie Wilson
By John Simpson
Dougie Wilson is delighted to be back playing football once again.
DOUGIE Wilson returned to the Alloa side on Saturday after a five month lay-off and intends to help the team regain their best form.
The former Alva Academy pupil told the Advertiser, “I came off the bench against Raith Rovers and I have no reaction at all to my ankle problem.
"This was my first match since my operation at King’s Park Hospital in Stirling in May and I am happy to say I had no problems during the match, so everything should be OK.”
The Tillicoultry youngster continued, “I must now try and get myself fully match fit, so playing this week in a bounce game for Alloa’s Under 19-side should help me a lot.
“My intention is to link up with Jamie Stevenson to get Alloa off bottom place and up the Division Two table. Physiotherapist Jim Law has been a lot of help to me and has given me some exercises to do at home.”
Dougie now wants to be included in the team this Saturday.
He said, “I intend to be fit for selection at Peterhead and gradually become fully match fit which will come soon. Once I have had a few games, I will be match sharp again."
Looking at last Saturday’s draw with Raith Rovers, Dougie said, “I felt we did alright and I hope we will have picked up by Saturday. At our best I don’t think we have to fear any team in this league – and we've got to beat my old team Stirling Albion!"
Alloa boss Allan Maitland is hoping Brown Ferguson and David McClune will be making a return from injury in a week or two.
Andy Ferguson and Fraser Forrest could be out a little longer.
