FORMER Rangers and Alloa Athletic midfielder Derek Ferguson makes a return to the Recs on Saturday as manager of Stranraer.

Fergie, well known as a tough tackling midfielder, hopes his side will bounce back after losing by the odd goal in three at Raith Rovers at the weekend.

But the Wasps are equally determined to kick-start their season by recording their first league victory of the campaign.

Wasps boss Allan Maitland told the Advertiser, “We need to win this one and I will include Andy Ferguson, Brown Ferguson and Dougie Wilson in the line-up now that they are fit again.”

At Balmoor Stadium last weekend, the manager included 16-year-old Greig Spence in the squad and brought the Wasps under-17 player into the action eight minutes from the end. This should be good for the boy to have some first team experience early in his career.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat, Maitland said, “This was a match with few chances for either side.

“Unfortunately there was only one goal scored and it was not for us, but I am not sure Peterhead deserved their victory”
