Kyle Macaulay bagged a brace for the Wasps.

ALLOA secured their first win of the season thanks to a second half demolition job on Stranraer.

Happy Wasps gaffer, Allan Maitland said, “We were really slow to start today but once we found the opening goal that set us up nicely and I’m delighted to win.”

The Wasps opened brightly and nearly scored after two minutes when Dougie Hill, Graeme Brown and Kyle Macaulay all had stabs at converting an Iain Campbell cross but they couldn’t find a way past Scott Black.

A minute later Stranraer’s Steven Nicol saw his powerful shot from the edge of the area blocked by one of his own players.

Midway through the half Alloa's Dougie Wilson freed up some space for himself with some exquisite footwork but his subsequent shot sailed over the bar.

Alloa’s Chris Townsley brought down Steven Nicol inside the box after 27 minutes and the referee pointed straight to the stop, but Andrew Gibson blazed the resultant penalty over the bar.

The afternoon got even worse for Stranraer on the stroke of half-time when Nicol was shown a straight red for a two footed challenge.

It was the 10 men, though, who took the lead four minutes into the second half when Gregory Tade’s miss kicked shot dribbled past Ray Jellema.

Eight minutes later it was all square when Kyle Macaulay’s close range shot beat the diving Black

The home fans didn’t have to wait long to see their side go ahead as Scott Buist headed the Wasps 2-1 in front on 62 minutes.

Graeme Brown made it three a minute later when he blasted an Andy Ferguson cut back high into the net.

Macaulay made It four in eight minutes for Alloa when his diving header beat the helpless Black.

Andy Ferguson came close to making it five after 72 minutes with a long range effort that rattled the post.

But Andy Scott did make it five - ten minutes from time - when he stabbed the ball past Black as the Wasps lifted themselves off the foot of Division Two.
