CLACKMANNAN'S traditional Mercat Fayre will make its much anticipated revival this summer, thanks to funding from the Big Lottery.
The historic event will return on Saturday, June 3, and will line Main Street with an array of entertainment, food, craft, music and more.
The news comes after a bid was made on behalf of the Clackmannan Development Trust, the Clackmannan, Kennet and Forestmill Community Council, Clackmannan Primary School and Clackmannan Parish Church – who are celebrating their bicentenary this year.
Lesley Shaw, community development officer, said: “This event has sorely been missed in the town and was highlighted in the Community Action Plan 2015-2020 to host once again.
"This was a terrific opportunity for the four pillar organisations in our small community to work in partnership to organise and celebrate together - added to the fact that this is a very special year for the local church and I am delighted that we were able to secure funding to make this event happen.”
