THERE are only a few weeks left to get your nominations in for Clackmannanshire’s Citizen of the Year.

If you know someone who has contributed to the local community, or has been there for others in times of need, there is still time to put them forward for the prestigious prize.

Deadline for nominations is Friday 30 January with the winner of the award, sponsored by the Lord Lieutenant’s Trust, to be announced at a ceremony in the Speirs Centre in March.

Provost Tina Murphy said: “There’s only a few weeks left to send in your nominations. During this very busy year for Clackmannanshire, I have been privileged to see just what a valuable contribution our citizens have made to the lives of others through their dedication in volunteering their time, effort and care.

“I also know that many of these admirable people don’t seek the limelight and so I’d urge the people of Clackmannanshire to think about the people who make that vital contribution to all our lives and nominate them. This really is a chance for everyone to say a big thank you to our unsung heroes of everyday life.” The council is also looking for a Young Citizen of the Year, a category which is being awarded for the third year.

The current joint Citizens of the Year are Marion Levitt and Gary Richardson, while Kristy McQuater was named Young Citizen of the Year.
