CLACKMANNAN Community Council is looking for new members.

Due to vacancies, which it must fill in order to fulfil its function to represent the views of the community, and in accordance with standard procedures, Clackmannanshire Council will now initiate an interim election.

The first stage is to seek nominations from local residents to become community councillors.

Provost Tina Murphy said: “Community Councils are the most local tier of statutory representation. They bridge the gap between local authorities and communities, and help to make public bodies aware of the opinions and needs of the communities they represent.

“As well as their statutory function, Clackmannan Community Council is also active in supporting and running many community activities such as the Christmas lunch for older people in Clackmannan. Everyone has some skill or experience that they can bring to a Community Council and it is with this in mind I would urge people to give Clackmannan their support and, where they can, get involved.” The nomination process is simple, just fill out one of the nomination forms and get two people to support you.

Anyone who is over the age of 16 and who appears on the electoral roll in the community council area can stand.

Closing date for nominations is Thursday 5 February 2015 and for further information, or to obtain a nomination pack, please contact the Elections Office, Clackmannanshire Council, on 01259 452266 or elections@clacks.gov.uk or see our website: www.clacksweb.org.uk/community councils/elections
