TO CELEBRATE WWF’s Earth Hour later this March, Clackmannanshire Council will switch the lights off at the Speirs Centre and the Kilncraigs building.

Last year a record breaking 162 countries and 7000 towns took part in the world’s biggest celebration of the planet and it is hoped that at 8.30pm on 28 March, Wee County residents will be inspired to join the hour of darkness.

Councillor Donald Balsillie, enterprise and environment convener, said: “We’re proud to again take part in WWF’s Earth Hour and our employees and residents are excited to be involved with such a great and inspiring event.

“Everyone can make a difference to help protect our planet and we all have a key role to play.” In 2014 thousands took part and showed support around Scotland, some of the participating landmarks included Edinburgh Castle, Forth Rail Bridge and the Falkirk Wheel.

Lang Banks, director of WWF Scotland, said: “We’re thrilled that Clackmannanshire Council will be taking part in WWF’s Earth Hour again and hope that many others will be inspired to get involved.” TO CELEBRATE WWF’s Earth Hour later this March, Clackmannanshire Council will switch the lights off at the Speirs Centre and the Kilncraigs building.
