AN ALVA man was arrested at the weekend in connection with a violent hammer attack on West Johnstone Street.
Police arrived at the scene at around 12.30am on Saturday following an earlier 999 call to the Scottish Ambulance Service.
It is believed the victim was struck repeatedly with a hammer during the attack, after a verbal altercation broke out among the two parties.
He was later treated for his wounds, which required a number of stitches to be applied.
A 58-year-old man appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court (pictured) on Monday charged with assault to severe injury and disfigurement.
He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.
However, the accused was released on bail.
He will appear back in court at a later date.
