A TULLIBODY man will spend a month in prison after failing to turn up at court appointments.

Ryan Rennie missed three separate dates with the criminal justice social work department to complete reports into his background.

The details of his history are required before the court can sentence the 22-year-old on a charge of sending unpleasant texts to his partner.

Between 1 June and 17 July last year, at an address in Hutton Park, he did send an excessive number of messages which were "threatening, abusive or offensive".

The 22-year-old also breached a community payback order, handed to him for assaulting the same woman in Stirling almost two years ago.

On March 24, 2014, he did strike her on the head with a folder, and repeatedly strike her on the head and body with his hand and seize her by the body.

Rennie appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday (January 14) hoping to have another appointment made to complete the reports, but got a nasty surprise while in the dock.

Sheriff Michael Fletcher did not take kindly to the accused failing to attend his previous three dates and ordered he be remanded in custody for the reports to be completed.

Rennie, of The Orchard, cut a dejected figure as we was lead away from the dock and taken into custody.

He will re-appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, February 11, for sentencing.
