A FORMER Alloa Athletic player will stand trial later this year charged with domestic assault.
Phillip Roberts continues to deny the attack, alleged to have taken place in Dundee last March.
He appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday (Tuesday, February 9) where he pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to appear at a previous trial set down for October last year.
The 21-year-old, now living in Essex, was on loan at the Wasps at the time the offence is said to have occurred.
It is alleged that on March 15 he seized a woman by her body and pushed her against a wall to her injury.
A new trial date has been fixed for May 26, with a pre-trial hearing set down for May 12, and bail was granted.
Roberts spent the second half of last season at Alloa, making only a handful of appearances for the club.
