A man has been accused of getting naked in a university library.

Neil Cox faces a charge of indecent exposure following the alleged incident in the University of Stirling library in January.

Cox, 27, is alleged to have "repeatedly sat naked on a chair" and walked about in the buff in the library, which overlooks picturesque Airthrey Loch on the university campus.

It is alleged that in doing so, he exposed his private parts to a woman borrower "with the intention that she should see them".

He is accused of carrying out the act "in a sexual manner".

Cox, who lives in Langford, Bristol, was not personally present at Stirling Sheriff Court last Friday when his solicitor, Virgil Crawford, asked for more time for the prosecution and defence to discuss the case.

The court heard that what occurred in the incident, on January 24, 2016, was filmed on equipment that police later seized.

Mr Crawford said Cox "did not dispute that certain things took place", but what was at issue was whether they amounted to the common law offence of breach of the peace - or a statutory sexual offence as presently charged.

Mr Crawford said: "What transpired was captured on a digital camera and somebody's mobile phone."

He said he hoped the Crown might amend the charge to breach of the peace once the footage had been viewed.

After consulting her papers, procurator fiscal depute Ann Orr said: "Reference is made to a damaged memory card, but images were obtained from it."

Sheriff Wyllie Robertson continued the summary case without plea until March 11.

He said: "Can I just be assured that someone from the fiscal's department will be taking hold of this?"

Mrs Orr replied: "That request will certainly be made.
